Mercy House Life Center mobilizes and provides the displaced community access to technology, information, and resources through guidance and support services that will empower participants to improve their lives and personal circumstances.
Mercy House Life Center is a non-profit organization that seeks to help displaced adult men and women in the New York City area connect to technology, information, and resources to improve their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. We are an inclusive resource center for displaced individuals experiencing a major life change or catastrophic event that has displaced them from having access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or printer. Additionally, if such persons lack an address, we will allow them to use our personal post office box to receive their mail temporarily until they secure a permanent address. Mercy House will provide a safe space for displaced people to take care of their business needs, reintegrate them into the community, and encourage their independence.
We live in a world where technology is at the front and center of our daily lives. Most people eat, sleep, travel, and even use the bathroom with their cellular devices. Well, those who are displaced or facing a significant life change may not have the same luxury of waking up next to a computer or cell phone to check emails and texts or make a phone call to a loved one. However, the benefits of providing technology to displaced individuals extend beyond their personal lives. By equipping them with the tools to connect, learn, and communicate, we also invest in their future contributions to society. Connecting displaced individuals to technology can significantly impact their lives. Providing them with essential technology such as computers, tablets, smartphones, printing options, wi-fi, and a personal post office box to securely receive mail correspondence can improve their quality of life and create several opportunities for self-sufficiency.
Mercy House Life Center is committed to empowering displaced adult men and women over 18 years old who face significant life changes without access to technology. Our inclusive services, including personal post office box service, are designed to provide a sense of stability. We also offer free benefits advisement and guidance, equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools to navigate government benefits such as public assistance, cash assistance, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security Insurance, Social Security Disability Insurance, and other social service programs.
